“Left Cult” eats its own: Drag queens banned from parade because they might offend trans people… seriously

The LGBT community is having an increasingly difficult time catering to all of the conflicting interests of its members, as some of the more “traditional” icons are reportedly now butting heads with the “modern” ones.

Drag “queens,” it turns out, are now inherently offensive to the new wave of transgenders that are taking over the LGBT mafia because apparently men dressing up in stereotypical women’s garb might be seen as making fun of biological males who feel as though they’re actually women.

This “issue” has come to a head with Free Pride Glasgow, a famous LGBT pride event that takes place in the United Kingdom every year. Free Pride Glasgow has decided to ban all drag performances from its annual gathering in order to placate the feelings of transgenders, which naturally has outraged the many drag queens who have been performing at the event for many years.

Though it bills itself as being a “non-commercial” and “open-minded alternative” to the other LGBT pride events that also take place in Glasgow, Free Pride Glasgow had adopted this no tolerance policy against drag queens in order to support the LGBT community’s most marginalized people group: the gender confused.

There will be no more feathery boas and glittery footwear at this year’s Free Pride Glasgow, reports The Daily Wire, because ” the needs of the most marginalised groups within our community come first,” the group told The Independent.

“It was felt that it [drag performance] would make some of those who were transgender or questioning their gender uncomfortable,” reads a statement issued by Free Pride Glasgow.

“It was felt by the group within the Trans/Non Binary Caucus that some drag performance, particularly cis drag, hinges on the social view of gender and making it into a joke, however transgender individuals do not feel as though their gender identity is a joke.”

Free Pride Glasgow tells drag queens to go back into the closet

But wait: Aren’t LGBT members allowed to talk, act, and dress however they please, without question? Well, technically yes. In order to still appear as consistent as is possible in this situation, Free Pride Glasgow emphasized that event attendees can still wear “what they want” and “express their gender how they please.” It’s simply the “self-described drag acts” that will not be allowed to perform.

In other words, self-identifying drag queens will have to pretend not to be actual drag queens in order to be allowed at this year’s Free Pride Glasgow – which is basically the same thing as telling this group of people to go back into the closet and pretend as though they’re something they’re not.

After all, why should Free Pride Glasgow be allowed to dictate how drag queens choose to “self-describe” themselves at this public event? Isn’t self-identification that’s free from criticism and marginalization the very bedrock of what it means to be an LGBT person attending an LGBT pride event?

It appears as though the LGBTers are going to have to make some very tough decisions moving forward on issues like this. So far, Free Pride Glasgow is the only LGBT pride event that’s made the decision to ban drag queens – much to the chagrin of drag queens everywhere, who may now be considering starting their own pride events.

Soon the LGBT community will fracture off into dozens or even hundreds of smaller LGBT communities, each of which caters specifically to the growing number of gender identities that seem to be piling into the LGBT+ categorization.
